The Reshoring Institute Unveiled

We started working on Reshoring not just because it’s the right thing to do but because we didn’t see a future:a future for not only our grandchildren but also our country.  It’s hard to imagine a prosperous future if most of your neighbors are unemployed and can’t afford to buy the things they need, even if those products are made in China.. This is why Blue Silk Consulting started helping companies Reshore.

Along the way we found that we weren’t the only ones who thought that it’s the right thing to do for our future.  Great companies such as Apple, GE, and Caterpillar brought some of their products back to the U.S. and President Obama has mentioned it in the last two year’s State of the Union speeches. Walmart announced it will buy an additional $250 billion in U.S. products over the next  10 years.  Starbucks donated $5 million dollars to Create Jobs for the USA Foundation and brought their ceramic mug production back to Ohio.

So what did our boutique consulting firm do to help continue this momentum? We created the Reshoring Institute in collaboration with the University of San Diego (USD). Our Mission is to provide research and support for companies bringing manufacturing and services back to  America. We also want to motivate and encourage young people to consider careers in manufacturing. We want to encourage them to see the big picture, think globally and locally, consider the whole supply chain and create sustainable products.

The Reshoring Institute was created to give college students an opportunity to dive deep into the pool of the future. Our interns will be able to provide cost comparisons on the best places to Reshore manufacturing; factoring in labor costs, tax incentives, access to skilled labor and available infrastructure. They will maintain an active library of Reshoring white papers, case studies and news on Reshoring companies and events.

We envision that the Reshoring Institute will be the one stop shop for all things Reshoring; beyond simple costs comparisons between manufacturing on China and manufacturing in the US. We want to provide an all-inclusive evaluation of innovation, automation, localization, incentives and marketing and an executable plan to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.

Blue Silk Consulting is proud to unveil the Reshoring Institute and we look forward to helping companies bring manufacturing back to the U.S. and to working with the next generation of business leaders in creating a sustainable future for the U.S.
